Bismarck, North Dakota – The North Dakota Department of Transportation has expanded its fleet of snowplows in anticipation of the winter season and needs your assistance naming them.

For 2022, the Name-A-Plow competition will return. More than 850 North Dakotans submitted their entries in 2021. The funniest and smartest submissions are chosen by NDDOT personnel for each of the eight districts.

“Our main goal for this Name-A-Plow contest is to engage with the public, have a little fun, but also to promote snowplow safety, and make sure everyone drives safely this winter season,” said David Finley, assistant communication director of NDDOT.

The NDDOT wants to urge people to be patient with snowplows since they will occasionally stop and let people pass. If possible, move five car widths back to avoid “white out” and poor sight.

Darth Blader of Bismarck won the 2021 Name-A-Plow competition and will soon be out assuring the safety of our roads this winter.
