Fire displaces family of six in Ellendale

Ellendale, North Dakota – Tuesday’s fire in the center of Ellendale forced a family to relocate.
Crews were summoned to a deck fire at around 7 a.m., according to Fire Chief Mike Thorpe. They discovered the terrace completely in flames that had extended into the structure.
“We made entry into the building…thought we got it knocked down,” Thorpe said. “Due to the structure of the older building, [the fire] got into the walls and floors. From there, we backed out and went defensive.”
