An NCAA transfer eligibility ruling from a federal court may have an effect on UND

Grand Forks, North Dakota – UND may be impacted by a federal court decision on the NCAA’s transfer eligibility policy.

In opposition to the rule requiring student-athletes who transfer among Division 1 institutions to wait a year before competing, a judge issued a temporary two-week restraining order.

According to the group, it will begin informing universities and institutions of the decision.

As of yesterday afternoon, according to UND, the NCAA had not notified them of the decision. Tyree Ihenacho, a player for the Fighting Hawks men’s basketball team who returned to Grand Forks this fall, may be significantly impacted by the move.

Later this month is the date of the case’s next hearing.
