88-year-old Hope, North Dakota, man killed in Barnes County collision

Barnes County, North Dakota – An 88-year-old man from Hope, North Dakota, lost his life when the car he was riding in overturned in Barnes County. According to the Highway Patrol, a Chevy Cobalt being driven by Hope resident Marlene Wixon, 84, was traveling west of Pillsbury in a southerly direction on 125th Ave SE at 3:51 PM on Thursday.
According to the Highway Patrol, Wixon lost control of the car and drove into the east ditch. The car flipped over and came to rest facing north on its wheels.
The 88-year-old male passenger received on-site medical attention for his collision-related wounds. He was brought to CHI Mercy Hospital in Valley City, where doctors declared him dead.
Marlene was taken to CHI Mercy Hospital for treatment of minor injuries she suffered in the collision. No seatbelts were worn by either of the occupants.
The Highway Patrol is still investigating the collision.
