Bismarck, North Dakota – In less than two months, Bismarck will host a well-attended race.

Additionally, the start and finish of the Bismarck Marathon are shifting.

This year, the race will start and end on the grounds of the state capitol.

According to the organizers, they also intended to use the capitol building as a backdrop and show off more of the city’s neighborhoods during the marathon.

The route of the event will still carry competitors to Mandan and back along the Missouri River.

Even though the route isn’t built yet, organizers are expecting about 2,000 runners to participate.

“We’re no longer starting on the back trails of Cottonwood Park, where no one can see us,” Funatix Events general manager Jordan Black said, “We’re going to be front and center, be a part of the community, be in downtown, be playing off what the Downtowners are already doing for the street fairs. I mean, it’s going to be rocking the entire weekend, and we’re just so excited to be a part of it.”

The weekend of September 14 through 16 is when the Marathon takes place.
