Bismarck, North Dakota – With heavy hearts, the North Dakota Highway Patrol has lost Boudreaux, their retired man-trailing K-9.

Boudreaux’s death was declared by the department on Facebook on Wednesday. Boudreaux was the NDHP’s first man-trailing and bloodhound dog.

Boudreaux worked for the patrol from December 2012 until his retirement in May of last year.

The patrol reported that Boudreaux had completed about 300 case trails and had located or helped locate 30 people.

Boudreaux obtained several accommodations from various agencies and graduated from two FBI academies.

Trooper Steven Mayer and his wife Tammy provided Boudreaux with loving care during his retirement, according to the patrol’s post.
