Fargo, North Dakota – The Dakota Medical Foundation in Fargo is one of the organizations that MacKenzie Scott’s most recent round of gifts has benefitted.

The ex-wife of Jeff Bezos, the man behind Amazon, Scott, donated $10 million to the foundation. The donation is a part of Scott’s most recent round of 300 philanthropic gifts from the previous several months, which together amount $2 billion.

In order to decide how this extraordinary gift might best enhance and accelerate the foundation’s work in creating the healthiest and most generous region on the planet, DMF said it will consult with its extensive network of partners and stakeholders.

“We do nothing by ourselves,” said DMF Executive Director Pat Traynor. “This gift reflects the tireless efforts of the thousands of charities, donors, and volunteers we’ve been so blessed to work with over the years through Giving Hearts Day and other community initiatives. A gift like this is truly a game-changer and will be a catalyst to inspire others to join a movement to do good for others.”

The first area of emphasis, according to Traynor, will be mental health.
