WASHINGTON – Former Fargo Police Chief Chris Magnus is believed to be the choice of President Biden to lead US Customs and Border Protection.

Magnus left Fargo in 2006 for a San Francisco suburb after leading the Fargo department for seven years. From California, Magnus moved to Tucson, Arizona where he is the police chief where he was a critic of former President Trump’s immigration policies. Democratic party sources and the New York Times reported that Magnus is in line for the top CBP position.

Early last summer, he offered to resign in Tucson after a man died in police custody. The mayor convinced Magnus to reconsider his resignation and stayed on the job.
