Fire and smoke damage a residence in rural Fargo, 13 cats killed

Fargo, North Dakota – A fire that broke out in the kitchen of a residence in the rural south of Fargo was responsible for the deaths of thirteen cats.
At around 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, the Cass County Sheriff’s Office along with fire units from Horace, Kindred, and Rural West Fargo responded to an incident in the 800 block of 88th Avenue. S.
The fire was contained to the kitchen by the firefighters, but smoke damage was extensive throughout the rest of the house.
The homeowners were present when the fire started, but they escaped without any injuries.
The cause of the incident is now unknown, however, the State Fire Marshal’s Office will conduct an investigation into the matter.
