Bismarck, North Dakota – More than 400 softball teams came to Bismarck for the McQuade Softball Tournament this past weekend. Furthermore, despite the fact that Saturday’s games were all postponed due to rain, the fields were immaculate for Sunday’s first game at 7:15.

The parks and recreation departments in Mandan and Bismarck are mostly responsible for that. Staff workers from Parks and Recreation stayed up late and got up early to make sure that every game on Sunday could be played. According to the tournament director, the field grooming staff worked on the fields far into the night on Saturday and were up bright and early on Sunday to prepare the grounds.

“You couldn’t even tell it had rained last night when we arrived at the fields at 6:15. It appeared as though they had drugged and pre-watered the crops to improve their appearance. With no issues and no water on the diamonds, we were ready to play at 7:30, said to Mike Wolf, the co-tournament director and chief umpire.

Approximately 415 teams participated in the McQuade Tournament this year, which is approximately the same as in previous years.
