Cass County starts new program in order to reduce number of repeat offenders

Fargo, North Dakota – In cooperation with the National Sheriff’s Association, the Cass County Sheriff’s Department will start a new program aimed at reducing the number of repeat convicts in the county’s prison system.
North Dakota will become the fifth state to implement the RE-IGNITE once it is fully operational.
To make a “culture change,” the program will involve teachers, counselors, and the general public. The goal is to stop the cycle of ex-convicts going back to jail after they get out.
Cass County Jail officials said over 9,000 people are booked into the Cass County Jail every year and half of them are repeat offenders.
