BNSF installs sheet piling for new bridge

Bismarck, North Dakota – In order to construct their new bridge, BNSF has made yet another significant step. Workers started putting in sheet piling along the west bank of the Missouri River earlier this week.
The dock wall’s construction will include piling. The dock wall will remain throughout the project to allow for the loading of building supplies onto barges to build new river piers.
A construction access road has also been constructed by workers.
It is still unclear if the current bridge will be demolished.
Oral arguments in the Friends of the Rail Bridge lawsuit against the North Dakota Department of Water Resources and BNSF will be heard by the North Dakota Supreme Court on Monday.
The group claims it was improper for the agency to authorize BNSF to demolish the existing bridge. According to BNSF, all the licenses were legitimately issued.
