Bison wrestler wins U-23 United World Wrestling Greco-Roman National Championship

West Fargo – West Fargo junior wrestler, Brandon Metz, won the U-23 United World Wrestling National Greco-Roman Championship.
Metz won all five of his 130kg weight class fights on Thursday in Lincoln, Nebraska. In a best-of-three championship match, he defeated Spencer Trenary of South Dakota State, winning with a pin in the first round and a 5-0 victory in the second.
Metz also defeated Southern Illinois Edwardsville’s Colton McKierman 5-0 and SDSU’s Bowen McConville 8-0. In the semifinals, he defeated Nebraska Kearney’s Lee Herrington 4-1.
Metz will also be part of Team USA at U-23 World Championship in Belgrade, Serbia, which is scheduled for November.
