With 342,000 shots administered, North Dakota opening vaccine eligibility next week

BISMARCK — Following are the North Dakota Department of Health COVID-19 case rates, deaths, hospitalizations and vaccinations as of Tuesday, March 23. Because all data is preliminary, some numbers and totals may change from one day to the next.
Statewide case rates
- NEW CASES: 165
- TOTAL ACTIVE CASES: 745
- TOTAL CASES: 101,865
- TOTAL RECOVERED: 99,657
- DAILY TEST POSITIVITY RATE: 4.7%
North Dakota’s active case count increased by 43 on Tuesday. Cass County, which includes Fargo, reported 85 new cases and has 43% of the state’s active cases. More than 66% of North Dakota’s active infections are concentrated in its four largest metro areas: Fargo, Bismarck, Grand Forks and Minot. The two-week rolling average positivity rate is 3.2%.
Hospitalizations, deaths
- NEW HOSPITALIZATIONS: Zero
- ACTIVE HOSPITALIZATIONS: 19

- TOTAL DEATHS: 1,463
The Department of Health on Tuesday reported the death of one Williams County many in his 70s and one Morton County woman in her 50s, much younger than the average age of those who have died of COVID-19 in North Dakota.
Vaccinations
- FIRST DOSE ADMINISTERED: 205,941 (35.5% of population)
- COMPLETED SERIES (2 doses): 123,782 (21.3% of population)
The state continues to be a national leader in vaccine distribution, with more than 342,000 shots administered. Last week, the health department announced that it will open up vaccine eligibility to all North Dakota adults on March 29.
