Bismarck, North Dakota – A bill that would prohibit drag shows in public venues or other settings where children are present is now making progress in the North Dakota House.

Children would be safer, according to proponents of the law like Representative Brandon Prichard of the House of Representatives.

He goes on to say that the measure does not preclude the organizations that are putting on the events from doing so in private settings; nonetheless, he is of the opinion that minors should not be present for these gatherings.

Advocates for LGBTQ rights testified against the measure, arguing that it restricts people’s rights to freedom of expression.

The bill is going to be considered by the State Senate at this point.
