Valley City, North Dakota – The DeMasi Brothers will perform with us on June 21 at 7:15 p.m. at the Music in the City Park Bandshell. There will be music, laughter, and entertainment once more tonight.

The folk clubs and coffeehouses in and around New York City, where Joseph and John, the DeMasi, were born and nurtured, were where they started their folk music careers. They were prominent performers on the Fast Folk music series and frequently appeared and performed at the legendary music venue the Speak Easy in Greenwich Village as part of the 1980s folk music revival scene. They have performed on stages with folk music greats including Harry and Tom Chapin, Christine Lavin, and Oscar Brand and frequently appear on NPR radio.

They teamed up in 1992 with Chris Burke, a lifelong friend and award-winning actor with down syndrome best known for playing the title character Corky on the popular ABC television series Life Goes On. Chris and the other musicians met while serving as music counselors at a recreation program for children and adults with disabilities. The trio established a group and later signed a significant recording deal with BMG/Kidz. One of their four nationally published children’s and family CDs, Forever Friends, won a Parents Choice Gold Seal for Excellence Award. They have recorded four CDs for children and families.

Additionally very involved in their UU church, Joseph and John have given numerous performances across the nation.

“We strongly believe in equal rights for all, economic justice and saving the environment and we believe you should have a fun time doing it! That is why we interject so much humor into our shows. We have to be upbeat. We get to do what we love and promote what we believe in, said Joseph.”

Bring your family along, and spend the evening with your friends and neighbors! Every night, a freewill contribution is made to maintain the City Park Bandshell.
