Student suspended after loaded BB gun found in student backpack

A Lincoln Elementary School student has been suspended after a BB gun was found in the student’s backpack.
In a statement, Fargo Public Schools spokesperson AnnMarie Campbell says the student “made a staff member aware of something in their backpack upon arriving to school.” When the staff member looked into the student’s backpack, they visually saw a BB gun. The backpack was immediately secured and then confiscated.
According to Campbell, a hallway closure occurred in the building in order for staff members to appropriately attend to the situation, keeping all students and staff in their respective classrooms.
Campbell says no threats were made to students or staff and all students were safe at the school. She says the student accompanied school staff to the office and the student’s parents were contacted.
The school’s administration worked collaboratively with Fargo Police in the incident.
Campbell says no other information is available at this time.
