More than a third of North Dakotans have gotten their first shot of COVID-19 vaccine

BISMARCK — Following are the North Dakota Department of Health COVID-19 case rates, deaths, hospitalizations and vaccinations as of Monday, March 22. Because all data is preliminary, some numbers and totals may change from one day to the next.
Statewide case rates
- NEW CASES: 50
- TOTAL ACTIVE CASES: 702
- TOTAL CASES: 101,701
- TOTAL RECOVERED: 99,538
- DAILY TEST POSITIVITY RATE: 8.6%
North Dakota’s active case count decreased by 24 on Monday. Cass County, which includes Fargo, reported 19 new cases and has 40% of the state’s active cases. More than 60% of North Dakota’s active infections are concentrated in its four largest metro areas: Fargo, Bismarck, Grand Forks and Minot. The two-week rolling average positivity rate is 3.1%.
Hospitalizations, deaths

- TOTAL DEATHS: 1,461
The Department of Health on Monday reported the death of one Oliver County many in his 50s, much younger than the average age of those who have died of COVID-19 in North Dakota.
Vaccinations
- FIRST DOSE ADMINISTERED: 204,145 (35.2% of the population)
- COMPLETED SERIES (2 doses): 122,671 (21.1% of the population)
The state continues to be a national leader in vaccine distribution, with more than 340,000 shots administered. Last week, the health department announced that it will open up vaccine eligibility to all North Dakota adults on March 29.
