Fargo, North Dakota – There is now more passengers than ever at Hector International Airport.

Hector’s airline passenger traffic increased in September of this year compared to the same month in 2022, the airport announced.

Compared to the previous record-breaking September 2022 passenger enplanement of 35,213, which was set in 2022, the September 2023 passenger enplanement of 41,425 represents an increase of 17%. There were just under 82,000 passengers in total for the month (81,953), a 17 percent increase over the same period the previous year.

In September, there were 488 air carrier departures with 2,732 people per day on average and an average of 98 seats per aircraft.

“The Airport Authority is pleased with the continued growth in our passenger boardings” said Executive Director, Shawn Dobberstein. “It demonstrates the confidence our airline partners have in serving the Fargo market” he continued. “This positive trend confirms the need to expand the passenger terminal to meet the needs of the traveling public in our region”.

Hector’s continuous dedication to modernizing and enhancing the infrastructure, incorporating state-of-the-art terminals and advanced technology, will contribute to the development of an even more effective and passenger-friendly atmosphere. May 2024 is when the new terminal extension and redesign are scheduled to start. It will include upgraded TSA checkpoints, more gates, and sensory-friendly features. There’s a chance that the growth will lead to more airline choices.
