Go Far Women run hosts virtual race

FARGO— The Essentia Health Go Far Woman running event goes digital this year because of the pandemic.
The usual 1,500 participants will be doing their runs and relays on their own time and then posting their progress, times, and pictures online. For those who do not want to do their races virtually, they were offered a deferment of their registration to the 2021 Go Far Woman event or a refund up until Aug. 4.
Volunteers were at Urban Plains Park on Friday, Aug. 7 to hand out T-shirts and medals to those who selected the digital option. Those who didn’t make it out will receive medals and t-shirts through the mail.
A portion of the proceeds from the race will go to the Essentia Health NICU in honor of Dr. Renee Schwandt, a former doctor at Essentia who passed away unexpectedly in 2003.
Registration for all races included in the event will close Saturday night.
