Traill County, North Dakota – After striking a sheriff’s police car that was responding to another collision on Sunday at 7:45 p.m., approximately two miles south of Buxton, one individual was taken into custody.

The 24-year-old Body Cota of Bemidji, Minnesota, was traveling south on I-29 when he collided with an unattended police car belonging to the Traill County Sheriff’s Office, according to the North Dakota Highway police.

Traffic management was provided by the police car, which was stationed on the road with its emergency lights on while emergency personnel attended to a single-vehicle rollover crash incident that had happened earlier.

In addition to being detained for DUI and illegal possession of controlled narcotics and paraphernalia, Cota also sustained minor injuries. In both crashes, no additional injuries were reported.
