Area snowfall opens snowmobile trails in ND

North Dakota – According to North Dakota Parks and Recreation, the latest winter storms’ snowpack has created excellent snowmobile conditions throughout the state.
Snowmobile North Dakota members manage 13 state snowmobile trails totaling 2,800 kilometers.
As long as there are at least four inches of compacted snow on the trails, they are open through April. According to officials, snowmobilers can download an interactive trail map and an app to their phones to help with the experience and safety.
It goes under the name “Snowmobile North Dakota.” They claim that the app downloads an itinerary and keeps track of trips, current positions, weather updates, and the locations of amenities nearby.
On Apple and Android smartphones, the app’s free, data-free basic version can be downloaded. Officials claim that the pro edition has additional functions available. The trail map can be found at www.snowmobilend.org on a desktop computer.
