North Dakota State University awarded $1.9 million for research of unique earth elements

Fargo, North Dakota – North Dakota State University will receive a large amount of money to conduct research on unique materials.

The US Department of Energy gave NDSU $1,900,000 for rare-earth element research.

North Dakota Senator John Hoeven said, “This funding will help NDSU’s efforts to enhance our domestic supply of rare-earth elements, which is critical to U.S. manufacturing and competitiveness.”

The money, which will be distributed over three years, are part of a nationwide investment in new technology solutions to ensure the supply of key minerals critical to the United States’ economic, energy, and national security interests.
