NDSCS cancels upcoming football season after conference limits fall sports due to COVID-19

N.D. – North Dakota State College of Science has canceled its upcoming football season, the junior college announced Monday, July 6.
NDSCS made the decision after the Minnesota College Athletic Conference (MCAC), the conference in which the Widcats compete in football, decided to limit falls sports to ones that have been identified as low risk in regards to COVID-19.
“We are disappointed that our 2020 football season has been canceled; however, we realize this was a difficult decision for the MCAC,” NDSCS athletic director Stu Engen said in a release. “We are committed to supporting our student-athletes as they navigate the impacts this will have, and we look forward to the return of Wildcat football in 2021.”
The NDSCS clay target team also competes in the MCAC, but that sport has been identified as low risk. The Wildcats volleyball team is in the Mon-Dak Conference and isn’t impacted by the MCAC decision.
