Bismarck, North Dakota – The inaugural winter walk will be held by the public health department of Bismarck-Burleigh.

It is intended to encourage possibilities for movement so that people may stay active over the winter, according to a news release.

The one-mile walk is scheduled for Wednesday, December 21, and it will begin at 2 p.m. in the parking lot of the Sertoma Community Center.

Walking in the winter can strengthen the immune system, give you more energy, and be better for your heart.

“There’s something special about a fresh snowfall or a chill in the air that helps us take in a new point of view,” said Katie Johnke, nutrition services coordinator for Bismarck-Burleigh Public Health.

Katie Johnke can be reached at kjohnke@bismarcknd.gov for further details.
