Veterans’ disability percentages and ratings
Minot, North Dakota – As per the Pew Research Center, one in four adults in the United States is living with a disability.
The Rocky Mountain ADA Center’s director, Emily Shuman, estimated that two million veterans suffer from a disability related to their military experience, which can include everything from PTSD to physical wounds.
Breaking it down, that indicates that veterans make up 3% of adult Americans with disabilities.
“The Veterans Administration looks at it as a disability rating, which is a little bit different than ADA, but those 2.1 million veterans have a disability rating of 70 percent or higher,” said Shuman.
Veterans are protected by the ADA, she noted, just like anyone else with a disability.
Rocky Mountain ADA Center’s number is (719) 444-0268.
