Two Bismarck & Mandan high school seniors will be competing in curling at the 2024 Youth Olympic Games

Bismarck, North Dakota – When it comes to sports, there is something for everyone. Because of this, Owen Nelson and Zach Brenden chose curling as their new extracurricular activity. They are now passionate about it, and their effort has brought them to the 2024 Youth Olympic Games.
Seniors Zach Brenden and Owen Nelson attend Mandan High School and Legacy High School respectively.
They will all be traveling to South Korea to compete on January 16 for Team USA, along with their other two teammates, who are both from the Midwest. They achieved qualification at the Denver Youth Olympic Qualifiers.
Over the weekends, they get together in Minneapolis and Chaska, Minnesota, to practice with their Wisconsin and Minnesota counterparts.
“It’s just a surreal feeling. I didn’t expect to get here, but I’m looking forward to the opportunity to compete in the event… Yup, I feel the same, it feels amazing to represent Team USA,” said Owen Nelson and Zach Brenden.
Since July, they have been preparing for the competition.
