West Fargo, North Dakota – The current city hall building houses the packed police headquarters. To expand and provide more space, the West Fargo City Commissioners authorized a plan to lease the Wex building located south of I-94. This move will free up workers from city hall.

There was a 3-2 vote in favor.

According to City Administrator Dustin Scott, the relocation will entail a five-year lease for office space for employees presently employed by the Pioneer Center and City Hall, costing roughly $725,000 yearly.

The annual lease payments will be approximately $575,000, plus an extra $150,000 for taxes, specials, operations, and maintenance. Additionally, initial fit-ups and renovations are projected to cost $500,000.

The anticipated duration for the relocation to the new site is three to six months.

Additionally, staff was instructed by city commissioners to proceed with hiring an architect to begin planning and designing the necessary services for the expansion of the police department at City Hall.
