Fargo, North Dakota – River Joy will be the first child born in Fargo in 2024. On New Year’s Day, at 8:18 a.m., River was born at Sanford Hospital, weighing 7 lbs. and 6 oz. to parents Katie Sartin and Garrett Bohannon.

Garrett, her father, refers to her as a “New Year’s princess.”

With their little one, Garrett and Katie are content. There’s a greater emotional connection to everything. It means something entirely different to see and hug River because Garrett says his firstborn passed away when she was quite small.

Sanford claims that although a baby was delivered at 3 p.m. on New Year’s Eve, the birth center was remarkably peaceful as no babies were delivered until the sun had risen.
