Pick-up driver killed in the Hatton Northwood school bus collision identified

Fargo, North Dakota – The driver who perished in a traffic accident with a school bus on a Nelson County road on Thursday afternoon has been named by the North Dakota Highway Patrol.
Archie Gronvold, a 68-year-old resident of Barton, was killed when the pickup truck he was operating collided with a bus carrying the Hatton Northwood volleyball team.
Just before 4:00 p.m., an accident occurred on Nelson County Road 4 and Highway 32.
According to investigators, the school bus that struck Gronvold’s westbound car as it crossed Highway 32 was traveling north.
Gronvold passed away on the spot.
A coach, the bus driver, and 25 student-athletes were all seated in the vehicle.
None of the pupils had injuries that required immediate medical attention, but a few of them remained hospitalized Friday.
The Highway Patrol is still investigating the collision.
