Jorgensen declares his intent to run for the West Fargo City Commission
West Fargo, North Dakota – A longtime resident of West Fargo is a candidate for city commission.
Rory Jorgensen has spent 54 years residing in the city. Before retiring from the fire service in 2019, he served for 25 years as chief of the West Fargo Rural Fire Department and currently works in commercial rebuilding for Servpro.
The city is ready for greater development, according to Jorgensen.
“Developers want the land west of the diversion. They want the roads in. So, when the big diversion comes in, they can start building. The school district already bought land north of town up by the horse park. It’s going to take off again,” Jorgensen says.
According to Jorgensen, West Fargo also requires more apartment complexes.
“Fargo has 4% vacancy. West Fargo has 2%. There’s no dirt to build an apartment building on. We need to get ahead of it,” Jorgensen says.
Jorgensen is wed to a police officer in West Fargo.
John Severson, Amy Zundel, and Tyler Erickson are also vying for the commission.
Mark Simmons and Mandy George, the commissioners, have decided not to run for reelection, therefore two seats will be up for election in June.
