Friends and Family Mourn loss of Mark Knutson

Fargo, North Dakota – To honor Mark Knutson’s life and legacy, 100 people gathered at Hope Lutheran Church in Fargo on Saturday.
Following a bicycle accident in Detroit Lakes last week, Knutson passed away. On the 1100 block of South Shore Drive in Detroit Lakes, Knutson lost control of his bike and fell into the path of a passing boat trailer, according to surveillance footage from a nearby house.
“Mark was an inspiration,” said Rev. Dale Wolf, Saturday. “I don’t know why Mark’s life was snatched away so early, but I do know the Lord was with him in the accident and I know God is good.”
During his 19 years as the Fargo Marathon’s executive director, Knutson helped the marathon grow from 200 competitors to approximately 20,000.
To take on the position of General Manager of Detroit Mountain, he had just relocated to Detroit Lakes.
