Fargo-Moorhead Convention and Visitors Bureau Awards $600,000 in Destination Development Grants

Fargo, North Dakota – The Fargo, Moorhead, and West Fargo (FMCVB) Convention and Visitors Bureau Board of Directors recently granted capital grants to two local projects from its Destination Development Fund.

The Red River Regional Marksmanship Center (RRRMC) in West Fargo received a $100,000 grant from the Board to assist in funding the building of a new $4.1 million facility. With the new facility under construction, RRRMC will be able to hold more and bigger shooting matches and competitions, increase its teaching programs on firearm safety, and draw more overnight guests to our towns.

The FMCVB Board also gave the City of Moorhead a $500,000 grant to assist with the $2,000,000 joint project of the City and Moorhead American Legion Post 21 for the rehabilitation of Matson Baseball Field. A new plaza area, new concession and restroom facilities, a new scoreboard and audio system, and other amenities are all part of the project. The grandstand will have a covered section. The American Legion Post will be able to work with Fargo & West Fargo on bigger events and draw in more baseball tournaments from Minnesota thanks to the upgrades.

The Matson Field award will be paid in three installments, while the RRRMC grant will be paid in one.

The 3% local lodging tax collected on hotel rooms in West Fargo, Moorhead, and Fargo provides funding for the Fargo-Moorhead CVB. The FMCVB Board has given awards totaling more than $5 million to deserving tourism-related initiatives in all three cities since 2012.
