Fargo, North Dakota – In 2016, the man who ambushed Fargo police officers last summer gave the Cass County Sheriff’s Office four firearms.

According to a sheriff’s department report, Mohamed Barakat admitted to a deputy that he had lately bought four firearms to “fit in” while pursuing his dental degree.

According to the investigative report, Barakat was questioned if he liked hunting or shooting by his coworkers. He claimed to be a Syrian Muslim who did not want to raise the possibility that he was a violent guy.

Barakat stated he hoped something positive would come out of his foolish purchases and donated the two shotguns and two rifles to the sheriff’s office for their weapons sale.

The firearms were worth approximately $1,500 in total.
